Responsible Recreational Land Use

Purpose:

Rush Boardsports is committed to promoting responsible recreational practices that honour both the environment and Indigenous cultural sites. As part of our pledge to sustainability and cultural respect, we aim to provide our customers with guidance on safe and responsible use of land for recreational activities, specifically with regard to sacred Indigenous sites and protected natural areas

Respect for Indigenous Land and Cultural Sites

We recognize that many recreational areas hold cultural significance for Indigenous communities. To ensure that these sites are respected, we propose the following guidelines:

  • Research and Awareness: Before visiting a site, familiarize yourself with its cultural significance and any restrictions. Use resources provided by local councils or Indigenous organizations to learn about these areas.
  • Follow Signage and Guidelines: Respect all signage and access restrictions in place to protect sacred sites and culturally significant landscapes.
  • Engage Locally: Consider reaching out to local Indigenous groups or cultural centers to gain insights into respectful land use practices and the historical importance of certain areas.

Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability

Our commitment extends to protecting the environment and minimizing ecological impact. We encourage customers to:

  • Stay on Marked Trails: Use designated paths to avoid disrupting natural habitats and prevent erosion.
  • Practice Leave No Trace: Pack out all belongings and dispose of waste properly to maintain the cleanliness and integrity of natural areas.
  • Limit Noise and Light Pollution: Keep noise levels low and minimize artificial lighting to avoid disturbing local wildlife.

Pledge to Responsible Land Use

As customers of Rush Boardsports, we invite you to join us in our pledge to uphold responsible land use. By following these guidelines, we can ensure that outdoor spaces remain preserved and respected for future generations and that Indigenous cultural sites continue to be respected.
